The Organization of Eritrean Unity (OEU) is thrilled to announce the commencement of its 2nd Congress, which will be held from January 17 to January 20, 2025. The Congress began today with great enthusiasm and hope, resonating with the Eritrean people and the international community.
In a groundbreaking opening ceremony, OEU recognized 10 outstanding members for their vital contributions to the cause of democracy, rule of law, justice, and human rights in Eritrea. This recognition marks a significant departure from traditional practices in the Eritrean political landscape; and shows the democratic credential and wisdom of OEU leadership.
OEU is a unique organization composed of three generations, from former diaspora-based members of the Eritrean Liberation Front (ELF) and Eritrean People’s Liberation Front (EPLF) to very young Eritreans in their 20s. This seamless mix of generations is primarily led by the young generation, bringing fresh perspectives and energy to the organization. Hence OEU, itself an outcome of a political process that unified Inter- and Entra-generational Eritrean political forces, spearheaded by the Young, is trying to create a unified resistance force against the rapacious Eritrean regime.
Over the next three days, the Congress will engage in robust debates and, if necessary, amendments to OEU’s political program and constitution. Additionally, new leadership will be elected democratically to guide the organization for the next three years. The Congress will also pass resolutions on key national, regional, and international issues.
The Congress will conclude on Monday, January 20, 2025.
We look forward to productive and meaningful discussions that will shape the future of our organization and contribute to the betterment of Eritrea.
