It is striking just how much time and effort right-wing media spend attacking the Prime Minister.
The Labour Party is hardly soaring in the opinion polls.
The popularity of Reform and Nigel Farage is evident. With so many keen to listen to their message, one can only wonder at the effort put into the campaigns.
The Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail and Express are relentless in their attacks on Sir Keir and his government. Much of it is palpable nonsence.
Why waste time and effort if the Labour leader’s days are – truly – numbered?
Perhaps the reality is that these right wing papers – along with GB News – fear what a successful Labour government might achieve. And the successes are mounting up.
Record deals signed during the Trump visit brushed aside
How much coverage has there really been of the record £150 billion investment by tech companies? You have to search for the detail. These included:
- Microsoft confirmed a £22bn investment in UK AI infrastructure, the company’s largest commitment outside the US,
- a £5bn commitment from Google,
- £11bn (US$15bn) from Nvidia and its partners,
- £90bn from Blackstone over the next decade in addition to the £10bn it previously announced for data centre development in the UK.
- £3.9 billion investment from Prologis, to strengthen its current investment at Cambridge Biomedical Campus,
- £1.5 billion investment from Palantir to help make the UK a defence innovation leader,
- £150 million investment from American company, Amentum, creating more than 3,000 jobs across Glasgow to Warrington and the Midlands, expanding its UK workforce by over 50%.
These investments should create high value 7,600 jobs in a fast growing sector. These jobs will be in all areas of the United Kingdom: 1,000 new jobs in Belfast and 6,000 more roles from Glasgow to Warrington, the Midlands and the North-East.
Help for families
Mortgage costs are coming down. This makes a material difference to all buyers.
School meals
Over half a million additional pupils will become eligible for Free School Meals under the new eligibility criteria. The change means that all households receiving Universal Credit, above the current £7,400 income cap, will qualify for this support.
This expansion builds upon the existing provision which already covers:
- 2.1 million disadvantaged children
- 90,000 low-income students in Further Education
- Around 1.3 million infants under the Universal Infant Free School Meals programme.
Growth increases
These figures speak for themselves.
International deals to drive growth
To help them grow faster, the government has already struck deals with:
- The Trump administration
- India
- Europe
Improving waiting times in the NHS
There have been an additional 5 million appointments under the Labour government.
Waiting lists are – gradually – falling.

Thank you Mr. Plaut I read the Telegraph daily through the Apple News subscription. I do this knowing it is a conservative publication. Sometimes it feels there are no liberal or progressive newspapers in GB.
Some of the articles are masked in conviviality but are very toxic and divisive.
No response required since you don’t have time to respond to comments like this, knowing how much time you spend for world affairs. Thanks a million
