Three hours of shelling are reported to have taken place across the Eritrea-Ethiopian border today (Wednesday).
The clash was apparently sparked off when Eritrean troops opened fire on about 40 refugees attempting to flee from Eritrea to Ethiopia.
The Ethiopian military retaliated, sparking off the fighting in the area of Erob. There are no reports yet of casualties.
Eritrean flee across the border into Ethiopia at a similar rate on an almost daily basis.

There was a military scrimish on July 14-15 around Endalgeda, Erob, Tigray, area.
Eritrean army was the provocateur and retreated after a few rounds of clash.
Based on intelligence from captured Eritrean soldiers, Asmara believes this might be an opportune moment to strike and the skirmish was meant to test the status of the Ethiopian army.

Yes the distance quite long between Badme and the area Erob/ Endalgheda. So check the Coordinates in the disputed border areas.
