The airlift of two Americans from West Africa to Atlanta, Georgia after they became infected with Ebola has resulted in an outpouring of vitriol from US Conservatives. Although the entire operation has been undertaken with great care to reduce any risk, the right has seized on the rescue mission to launch yet another attack on President Obama.
The two ill US citizens, Dr. Kent Brantly and missionary Nancy Writebol had been working with the Christian charity, Samaritan’s Purse in Liberia. While the United States professes to be a Christian country (some 77% of Americans say they are Christian) there is no evidence of it in these tweets – just a small selection of the anger and misinformation that can be found on the web.
This video takes the biscuit – accusing the President of attempting to introduce a “Medical Tyranny State”.
Is there no depth to which the American right will stoop to attack the president?
Umm what about these tweets makes you so sure they’re conservatives? I am one, and I say these two American citizens have every right to receive treatment here. I’ve seen an awful lot of hateful insensitive remarks made online about these two selfless people. Also comments made on the Samaritan’s Purse Facebook page by other Christians have been very uplifting. Maybe you should do more research before you pin something else on us “right wing-nuts.”
