The Eritrean Ambassador to the Netherlands, Negassi Kassa Tekle, has given a highly misleading interview about attempts to resist the repression that the Eritrean regime inflicts on its diaspora around the world. This has been described as “transnational repression” in an official Norwegian report.

Marymagdalene Asefaw puts the resistance to this repression by Brigade N’Hamedu into perspective.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the current situation within the Eritrean community in the diaspora, here are a few important facts:

A- The Eritrean Blue Revolution, BRIGADE NEHAMEDU, brings together peaceful, law-abiding demonstrators who are sounding the alarm about the situation, while expressing their willingness to cooperate with the UK government. The Blue Revolution’s goal is to investigate and prosecute supporters of the dictator and expose his anti-Western values and propaganda. The regime’s supporters violate host country discrimination laws globally by promoting a militarized mindset and allegiance to Isayas’ regime.They indoctrinate young children, against our democratic values in the UK and globally.

As concerned citizens, we must take a stand against terrorism and extremism. While the Eritrean Blue Revolution unequivocally rejects TRANSNATIONAL DICTATORSHIP on a global scale, recent incidents in Switzerland, Holland, Germany, and Charlotte in the USA have highlighted the importance and urgency of addressing these issues.

B- Eritrean citizens in the UK, Members of the Blue Revolution, have courageously declared their refusal to accept such oppressive regimes, signaling a resolute stance against tyranny and injustice. The Blue Revolution’s message is clear: NO TO TRANSNATIONAL DICTATORSHIP on democratic soil!

C- As concerned UK citizens, we urge the people and the UK government to act accordingly and immediately to counter the regime’s threats. We must all safeguard the security and values of the community we live in. We urge our government to take decisive action to support the aspirations of the Eritrean people for freedom, democracy, and justice. It’s crucial to note that some of the regime’s hardcore supporters have lodged new asylum claims in the UK, while at the same time backing the very government they say they fled from! Members of BRIGADE NEHAMEDU are happy to inform the police about events designed to provide financial and political support for the Eritrean regime. We can help the UK Home Office in identifying these fake asylum seekers and support sending them back to the very same dictatorship that they say they miss so much.

D- The government spies on Eritreans in the diaspora. They do this by working directly work with, and for, the Eritrean Embassy. Not only that, funds gathered by the Eritrean community are used by the Embassy.

E- The so-called “Cultural Festivals” organized by the embassy are utilized as:

* Sources of income (Festival and 2% tax):

Funds finance wars in East Africa and contributions to sustaining the regime.

* Propaganda and political indoctrination:

In the festivals, children and youths are subjected to indoctrination. Activities promote a militarized mindset and allegiance to Isayas’ regime, undermining democratic values.

* Eritrean regime’s influence on social issues in the diaspora:

Their supporters disseminate hate speech and anti-Western sentiment which pose a threat to UK security.

Therefore, as concerned citizens it is our duty to urge the UK government to investigate and prosecute supporters of the Isayas regime for peddling propaganda perpetuating discrimination, and indoctrination of Eritrean youth. This is vital to safeguard our democratic principles and national security.
