Who knew? London boasts an extraordinary number of parks, with approximately 3,000 parks across the city. These around 40% of London’s total area, totaling 35,000 acres of public green space. It’s why it is so pleasant to live in.

London is a forest. Literally. More than a fifth of the capital is trees. London is so packed with foliage that it’s technically a forest. That’s according to a United Nations definition that states that a forest is anywhere that’s at least 20 percent trees. London’s a respectable 21 percent.
London has an estimated 8.4 million trees in public and private spaces. And there are plans for many more. Here’s a map of them all!

By comparison New York City has more than 1,700 parks, playgrounds, and recreation facilities across its five boroughs. These parks span over 29,000 acres and cover 14 percent of the city.

Paris has between 400 and 500 parks and gardens. Specifically, the city boasts more than 421 municipal parks and gardens, covering just 7,500 acres.
