The meeting between President Isaias and Russia’s Sergei Lavrov took place earlier this week. But where? Did they meet in Asmara? Perhaps. Their photo looks like it.

Embatkalla ( along the Massawa/Asmara Rd ) is the HQ of the Eritrean navy. Therefore it is possible that there was a meeting at the base.
It might have been easier to organise from Massawa than Asmara.
Landing in Massawa is not out of the ordinary.
Qatar used to land in Massawa when they thought about building a hotel/casino complex etc on the Dahalack islands.
Other commercial flights do not land at the Massawa airport because it does not conform to International standards. But Eritrean war planes use the facility.
Also, prior to satellite technology Eritrea was used by the USA as a radar and radio listening post. Hence, the establishment of the USA bases at Kagnew and Radio Marina (literally Marine Radio)

Don’t make of any information a myth. Besides that Embaticalla is between massawa and Asmara, belong to the highlands is so a little bit difficult for international planes to land because of the geographical situations in the highlands. I have seen the embaticalla base from outside as any Eritrean when driving by car to massawa, it doesn’t have very big landing field for international flights.
Besides the massawa port has been used several times for international flights, when Russian officials arrived in 2022 in massawa they also landed on the civilian airport of massawa.
It doesn’t take you to be a rocket scientist but to look how the interior of the massawa looks like and compare it to the recent videos of Russian officials landinh in massawa to find out that the really landed at the massawa airport not in embaticalla.
